Dr. Christiane Roth has accomplished a lot in her life. Her wish appears very modest in comparison: just as boys want to be train drivers or operate a steam shovel, she was fascinated as a child by Zurich's trams. The blue and white wagons snaking through Zwingli's city still awaken her childhood dream of playing tram driver.

Our fantasy tram driver is given one-time-only special permission to fulfil her dream, thanks to our "Whatever you like" program. It is not easy to convince the VBZ to let a beginner into the driver's compartment, but Dominique Godat's creative team succeeds once again.

It's easy to see that Dr. Roth is enthusiastic when she takes her seat in the driver's compartment. Completely new is the realization that a steering wheel does not always steer! Steering into a right-hand curve, results in the tram suddenly speeding up. "Every beginner makes this mistake", laughs her driving instructor.

A half hour later, a glowing Dr. Roth leaves the tram reluctantly. Asked if she will continue to ride on the trams she answers, "Only in the driver's compartment!"
