Dario Färber's parents were less than enthusiastic when their son informed them a few years ago that he wanted to play the drums. They had in mind something quieter and more melodious. But all their efforts to convince their youngster failed, so the crafts room, renovated acoustically so as to avoid complaints by the neighbours, became his practice room. Dario grew up with a variety of music styles: rock, pop, classical and jazz. He really vibrates to the tempos of jazz, however, and it is these that he likes to play best. He was especially impressed by a concert featuring Pierre Favre, who was also influenced by various musical styles and now gives international concerts as a solo percussionist.

Ever since the concert, it has been Dario's secret dream to "jam" with Pierre Favre. But not so secret that his parents didn?t know about it. During a stay at the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz, they approach the "Whatever you like" team and challenge them to convince Pierre Favre to join their son for a jam session. Dario is in luck, for Favre has just ended a tour. The meeting is arranged without Dario?s knowledge.

A few days before his birthday, Dario's parents bring their junior drummer to Pierre Favre's practice room. Favre welcomes the family, Dario can't believe his eyes, and the surprise is a success. When Favre asks him to sit down at the drums and simply play, the youngster is in seventh heaven. They spend most of the afternoon showing one another what they can do, and the jazz legend gives Dario the benefit of his experience. "When my fellow band members hear about this, they'll blanch with envy," comments Dario, still unable to believe his luck. He will certainly never forget this one afternoon.
